We are seeking for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of:
Squash Breeding Research Associate
The Research Associate will primarily be responsible for supporting the activities of the Squash Breeder Program. Tasks will include, but not limited to, support and work in all activities related with plan, conduct and evaluate breeding nurseries, yield and pathology trial within and across locations. This is an excellent opportunity to work with leading edge technology and talented cross functional scientists seeking to deliver the very best vegetable crop genetics.
The principal duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Organize and execute field and greenhouse squash trials. This includes seed counting and packaging, sowing, and transplanting; requesting and supervising contract labor; trial evaluations and data analysis.
Enter and maintain accurate data in appropriate databases.
Provide summary reports of activities to management.
Order and maintain supplies and equipment needed for an appropriate workflow
Interact and promote efficient communication within and across other groups
Actively participate on the Environment, Safety and Health programs
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
M.Sc. (Agriculture - Plant Breeding) or M.Sc. ( Bio-technology/ Breeding); or Bachelor Degree (equivalent) with some experience in plant breeding.
Familiar with breeding and breeding methodologies
Computer proficiency, particularly in MS Office
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Fluent in Italian and English
