The vacancy for a Manager R&D Operations at Rijk Zwaan
Developing successful new varieties for the very diverse Italian vegetable market needs extensive testing of breeding material in the various Italian production areas, that's why we plan to open three trial locations in Italy.
Within this role you are responsible for organization and functioning of the three Italian trial stations and co-ordinates in Italy the planning of breeding trials for new varieties. You are in close contact with the breeding departments and breeding stations elsewhere in Europe, where relevant breeding projects are carried out. You take care that the results of breeding trials are well connected with the commercial trial plan, which requires close interactions with the commercial and trial teams of RZ Italy. You are also involved in external contacts with research organizations in Italy to look for opportunities for Rijk Zwaan and will help to organize germplasm collection in Italy in crops in which Rijk Zwaan is breeding.
We are seeking a Manager R&D Operations with:
a Masters' degree, in the area of Plant Sciences or Horticulture
at least 10 years' relevant experience
Furthermore you are able to think and act independently, but also to be a team player. You are able to think in long-term processes, keeping a good balance between the long-term goals and the results needed on short term. You have an open personality, good communication skills, you are trustworthy and sensitive to good advice. We are seeking a good leader and organizer with international orientation, someone with an active and practical approach, orientated towards solving problems and persevering. In view of the international nature of the role, proficiency in the English language is essential.
